RESUME
Eric Dierker
Helping Others to find for themselves a greater wellness is what I want to do. I came into the profession wanting to help people. And I can say that it is the most rewarding work I have done.
Learning our documentation skills has taught me how important that aspect is to good care. If we get that down, the rest is helping others.
I have been homeless, incarcerated and in Emergency Departments and IOP and inpatient. In the last 2 years I have lost 6 patients to this disease. I accept those risks because from the homeless to the incarcerated to the Emergency rooms I have seen what good we can do in others lives.
My last brush with the law was a DUI and that was over 23 years ago. I have been in recovery for sometime with over 8 years of total abstinence. This has included being secretary, sponsoring and working the crisis lines in NA/AA. This has given me a solid knowledge base for the services and paths to recovery. I am not currently active.
Relationship building and maintaining are very important to me. I have worked very hard and made reasonable money, but the satisfaction in helping others is what I hold most important.
Developing my own self care program and continuing to adjust it to new skills and research allows me to deal with the stress of this work and happilly pass that on to others. Every one has stress. Keeping it from stopping prosocial activity is my goal for myself and others.
Teamwork is what makes the dream work.
