•Serves as a resource in assisting patients and families in understanding medications and treatment, side effects and long-term benefits; or can direct patient/family to alternative resources Identifies age specific health education and medication teaching needed by patients and provides same in consultation with physicians

•Documents administration of medications, consent for medication and medication education per policy and standards of nursing practice Processes new admissions to the unit
