As an intern in the primate sector, I had the opportunity to participate in the Muriqui Project, focusing on the study of food selection and digestive efficiency of muriquis (Brachyteles arachnoides). My main activities in this project included:

• Offering various marked foods to the muriquis to track and analyze their dietary preferences.

• Observing behaviors, sounds, and movements of the animals during feeding and throughout the day.

• Recording the time from ingestion of marked foods to their elimination in feces.

• Collecting fecal samples to analyze the digestive efficiency of consumed nutrients.

• Presenting collected data and transcribing all information into an organized spreadsheet for subsequent analysis.

This project allowed me to develop skills in observing and recording detailed animal behaviors, as well as enhancing my knowledge of primate nutrition and digestive physiology. Teamwork and the integration of data collection and analysis were also fundamental aspects of this experience. The results obtained from this study will contribute to a better understanding of the feeding behavior and ecology of muriquis, an endangered species, supporting more effective conservation and management actions.
