We palletize and ship out boxes across Texas and Oklahoma. We build pallets of boxes of many different sizes by hand, then wrap them up in different colors matching each city the pallets are being shipped out to it's simple rinse-and-repeat. Afterwards we clean-up and do preparation for the next day like set up a fresh row of pallets. Whenever there was downtime, I always made sure to keep the area clean and had a fresh stack of pallets ready for use. As long as I kept up with everything we would get done with our volume much sooner and get home early.

I initially started as a picker, simply getting items out of pods and putting them in totes to send out to get packed. Over time I would end up getting cross-trained in stowing and counting, opening the door for more opportunities to expand my skillset. Stowing was putting the items in the pod to get picked and counting was keeping track of how many items were still in pods before and after pickers and stowers got to them. Communication was vital in all of those areas as there would be many errors that would have to be addressed to keep the work flow steady. For example, an item may have fallen out of the pods onto the floor, causing traffic and slowing the amount of work you're getting thus dropping your rate below the required standard and increasing your chances of getting written up and terminated. So we would have to pull andons and frequently speak to amnesty so they can get on the floor to fix said issue. Temp Worker
