Contracted to develop an interface between a legacy mainframe power outage maintenance dispatching system and Advantex Mobile Data client/server software. Coded, tested and installed 5 CICS COBOL sub-programs and expanded the mainframe VSAM database to hold new data fields. Defined new files in IDCAMS. Used SAS programs and FileAid to analyze VSAM files. Modified about a dozen CICS programs and BMS maps to handle expanded functionality. Coded, tested, and installed CICS / MQ-Series message queue handling. Coded, tested, and installed 2 batch resequencing programs and associated daily and weekly job streams for reset of MQ-Series message queues. The system was successfully installed in February and now serves metropolitan Houston (Houston Lighting and Power). I was then assigned as production support analyst and resolved batch and online glitches. I reviewed, re-defined and tuned VSAM databases for storage efficiency and performance after full production implementation.

Georgia Pacific Paper Mill May 1998 - Oct 1999

Crossett, Ar

Member of 5-person team interfacing Work Order Requisitions, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Manufacturing, Human Resources (Payroll), and General Ledger systems to Dunn and Bradstreet Accounts Payable financial accounting package (DBS). Database software used included VSAM, CICS, IMS/DLI and SQL/DS. Programming languages used were RPG, COBOL and COBOL II.

I wrote and tested the initial extract procedures for Purchase Order (VSAM), Vendor (DLI), and P/O Receipts (VSAM) databases as well as the CICS transaction capture functions for these files in 14 Command Level COBOL CICS programs. Two batch RPG programs were modified to capture generated Purchase Orders. I wrote and tested account number conversion programs for 8 VSAM/KSDS master files, 9 VSAM/KSDS table files, 2 VSAM/ESDS A/R transaction files, 7 IMS/DLI database segments, and 7 SQL/DS database tables. I replaced a source library table of department codes with a VSAM/KSDS table in 7 batch RPG programs. I wrote and tested a COBOL II program to generate price variation adjustment Jounal Vouchers for a Chemical Inventory system. I wrote and tested 2 special Purchase Order Receipt capture programs, a P/O Item Location conversion program, and a general purpose Journal Voucher interface for the new A/P system.

Next, I wrote and tested a program to cull erroneous purchase order and work order numbers from a weekly invoice transaction file and create a CICS maintenance file for the data. I wrote and tested the CICS error correction program and a batch program to update the original invoice transaction file from the correction file. Also, I wrote and tested a program to list vendors with more than 3 address lines.

In August, I began research, coding, and testing of 417 CMS files impacted by the Year 2000 Problem. These files consisted of COBOL, RPG, Assembler, DMS panels and tables, JCL, IDCAMS file definitions, and BMS map sources. Of these, 107 were found to be non-compliant, modified, tested, user certified, and installed by October 22.

In November, I researched 4 CICS shipping control programs and associated files and developed a Bill of Lading batch interface to the corporate SAP Custormer Order Entry System.

In December, I created a year-to-date Tissue Transaction History file. Then I designed and created an SQL/DS Tissue_History database and a host of queries to provide two years of history for mill floor inquiries. A Parent Roll System transaction file was expanded and an RPG purge program was modified to include 6 months of transaction history instead of one month.

In January 1999, I wrote a CICS/VSAM Bill of Lading Maintenance program to handle emergency changes to loading schedules in the case of server outage. The program updated local shipping files and adjusted the SAP transaction files for retro-active processing.

In February 1999, I analyzed 4 systems for pending rewrite - Raw Materials Inventory, Vital Supplies Inventory, Outbound Shipping, and Tissue Production Statistics.

In March 1999, I wrote 3 "cut-over" conversion programs for the SAP interface and local shipping files.

I began the re-design and rewrite of the Raw Materials Inventory System to incorporate accruals and variances from the new DBS A/P system. New functionality of vendor-managed inventories was required.

In April 1999, I wrote 8 COBOL II programs, modified 2 COBOL II and 9 RPG II programs, and modified production JCL to parallel the month-end accounting of the Raw Materials Inventory System. I designed and implemented the new R/M Inventory Master file to capture A/P reconciliation data.

In May 1999, I modified 8 CICS COBOL programs and DMS panels to incorporate the new R/M Inventory Master file and associated transaction data.

In June 1999, I modified 6 CICS/DMS programs to handle emergency outages of the SAP shipping interface. The system ("IMPRINT") was installed over the July 4 weekend.

In July 1999, I completed parallel testing and Year 2000 Certification of the new Raw Materials Inventory System, and installed the system in the production environment. I also wrote 2 COBOL II CICS programs to sort and display Bill of Lading records in the IMPRINT system.

In August 1999, I wrote 2 CICS COBOL II programs to sort and display Delivery Orders and to inter-act with existing Order Inquiry and Customer Inquiry functions in the IMPRINT system. I also wrote and installed a Low Inventory Report in the new Raw Materials Inventory System.

September thru October 1999 I reviewed 9 remaining systems for Y2K Certification. Dozens of programs were remediated, tested and installed. I assembled certification packages and delivered them to department managers for approval.
