First line of responsibility for the train. Assemble rail cars together to form the train, connecting air hoses between cars and releasing or applying hand brakes on the cars. Throwing ground to waist level switches to align track sections. Operate track switches and couple cars moving sections of track to properly place railcars. Critically identifying many various colored signal aspects and their indications while judging distances between moving and/or stationary railcars/objects. Where required, replace “knuckles” that connect cars. Responsible for knowing all tracks in Yard and on the road plus speeds and restrictions for the trains. Responsible for all paperwork including train consist, Haz-Mat car contents and their placement. Report payroll via computer entry for entire crew. First line of communication with dispatchers and Yardmaster.

Within two more years I was again promoted to the Heidelberg/AM Graphics high speed perfect binder running the HT18 trimmer. Within two years again, I became the Lead Operator for the RG318 (Rotary Gatherer) with five crew members working for me. In addition, I performed all maintenance on the equipment.
