Receive written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients. Also receive prescriptions sent electronically from the doctor’s office, and verify that the information on the prescription was complete and accurate. Prepare prescriptions, by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and sometimes mix the medication. Then, prepare the prescription labels, select the type of prescription container, and affix the prescription and auxiliary labels to the container. Establish and maintain patient profiles, prepare insurance claim forms, and stock and take inventory of prescription and over-the-counter medications. Responsible for ordering supplies, and drug for using various operating systems including the McKesson ordering system. Scheduling of Work Hours based on budget provided by Pharmacist. Familiar with all pharmacy policies including those dealing with patient confidentiality, especially guidelines stated in HIPAA.
