Following safety guidelines and protocols, ensuring the crane is fully functioning, and monitoring crane stability and load weights. They also work with riggers and spotters to ensure lifts are completed safely.

Inspecting the crane and rigging equipment before each use, knowing the crane's capacity limits, and ensuring the mechanisms are clean and well-maintained. They also perform minor repairs, such as replacing hooks and repairing hoist mechanisms.

Setting up cranes based on complex manuals, operating the crane to reposition, unload, and lift loads, and binding loads to the crane. They also need to be precise when operating the crane to avoid mistakes that could injure people.

Coordinating with ground operators and interpreting hand and verbal signals, and working with a banksman to ensure site safety.

Maintain accurate inventory, ensure loads are delivered to their destinations, and come up with plans for loading and unloading. They also track inventory and activity logs to keep everyone on the same page.
