Resume:

Eric Lin

720-***-**** ****.***@*****.***

Summary:

• My career is founded on one sentence: making the impossible into the possible. For examples:

• Metallurgy: Successfully characterized within 6 months the effect of carbon on the loss of room-temperature damping capacity in copper-manganese alloys as a 1st year graduate student. This has resulted a key breakthrough to conclude a post-doc's 5-year research and publication.

• Piezoelectricity: Innovated a quantitative relaxation time spectrum model for piezoelectric materials in my PhD study. This discovery has quickened the qualitative modeling in this field significantly.

• Hard Disk Drive: Led a team to save an estimate of 25 million hard drives built for Seagate, valued at $2,500 million US dollars among a quality crisis in 2010. Later, helped set up a task force with plan to ensure similar crisis will never happen again.

• Data Automation & Integration – developed toolkits to simplify the automated data retrieval or statistical analysis. It has cut the processing time from several weeks to within minutes.

• Big Data Machine Learning Development – Pioneered the designs of Big Data Artificial Intelligence System in the Open-Source R/ Python, Hadoop, and Data Flow integration.

• Nicknamed as Data Wizard, a recipient of highest performance rating 6 years in a row. Education:

• Ph.D. of Metallurgical Engineering - University of Missouri-Rolla 1994 -1999 Focus in relaxation mechanism modeling in piezoelectric ceramics & damping capacity degradation in copper- manganese alloy along with TEM/SEM imaging technology

• Master of Physics - University of Oregon 1991-1992 Focus in X-ray Diffraction for DNA & Crystalline Solid-State structure

• Bachelor of Physics - Tunghai University in Taiwan 1982-1987 2 years in Chemistry, 3 years in Physics, Analytical Chemistry and Quantum Physics focus Skills:

• Languages: Python, D3 JavaScript, Java, R, C++, Visual Basic, JSL (SAS JMP Scripting Language), MATLAB, LabView, Pascal, Fortran, Oracle/Postgres/Hive SQL, PL/SQL, KNIME, Alteryx
