I am a Professional Health and Radiation Protection Physicist of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, working for more than 24 years in the field of radiation protection and dosimetry in industrial and medical sectors in Bangladesh. During my service period, I actively participated in radioactivity measurement, calibration and standardization of radiation beams and dosimetry, personal dosimetry of radiation workers, nuclear and radiological safety, design and implementation of nuclear and radiological emergency at facilities, and area monitoring of radiation facilities such as the TRIGA Mark-II research reactor and isotope production laboratory in Bangladesh. I obtained my PhD degree in the field of Experimental Nuclear Physics, specifically in Photonuclear reactions with 100 MeV and 2.5 GeV electron accelerator of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) via activation technique using an HPGe detector from Kyungpook National University, South Korea in 2009. Additionally, I hold a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Radiation Physics from the University of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I also have a Master of Science (M.S) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with honors in Physics from the University of Chittagong.
In my career, it was a great opportunity to work on the development of radioactive waste separation technology based on radioactive waste generated by the nuclear accident at Fukushima Daiichi NPP. This work was done at the Department of Quantum Science and Energy Engineering, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan in 2014-15 under the MEXT program of Japan.
In 2015, I was awarded as a Brain Pool Scientist by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology (KOFST) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Republic of Korea. As a part of this award, I was selected for the position of Research Professor at the Department of Physics, Kyungpook National University, South Korea from December 2015 to December 2016.
In my professional career, I have been involved in service, research and academic activities. This includes teaching at public universities for undergraduate and graduate levels in Physics. Additionally, I have been involved in the development activities of research facilities as the Project Director and Research Coordinator for the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. Throughout my research and academic career, I have supervised 38 PhD/MS/M.Phil/BSc. students from public universities in Bangladesh. The focus of their studies was in the field of Radiation Dosimetry, Radiation Protection, Health Physics, and Medical Physics Research. I have also published over 100 research articles in national and international journals. Furthermore, I have presented approximately 200 research abstracts and presentations at national and international conferences and workshops.
