Ho Teaching Hospital formerly Volta Regional Hospital and popularly known as Trafalgar is the regional and teaching hospital in Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana.This facility has been in operation for the past 20 years and has given to several thousands of patients from Ghana and our neighboring West African Countries.
The Hospital was constructed by Kaevener Construction International of United Kingdom and handed over to the Government of Ghana in November 1998. It commenced service delivery in April 1999 on a small scale. In December 2000, the Hospital was officially commissioned as the Volta Regional Hospital by the former President John Jerry Rawlings and his wife. At the time of commissioning, the Hospital was a 240-bed capacity but currently it has been upgraded to 340-bed capacity hospital, equipped to provide services for several out-and in-patient departments including (but not limited to) surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, diagnostics, paediatrics and psychiatry, Out-Patient Services, In-Patient Services, Mental Health, Dialysis, Herbal Medicine and Diet. With the new status, the Hospital is poised to serve as the premium Medical Tourist centre with Innovative Tertiary Health Care, Medical Education and Research.

Accra Psychiatric Hospital was established in 1904, and was called Lunatic Asylum; the present Accra Psychiatric Hospital. It was commissioned in 1906 to accommodate 200 patients.
About 110 patients were initially admitted into the new hospital under the charge of 16 untrained attendants. The hospital consisted of four wards; Female, Male, General and Criminal wards. The Lunatic Asylum later underwent modifications and extension into the Psychiatric Hospital with a bed capacity of 600.
