I learned and experienced the value of mentoring younger kids in a small association. As part of volunteering, I acquired the skills of communication. By the different ways I had to approach the kids to earn their trust, I had to try many forms of communication. I also acquired the skill to show empathy, by offering them comfort and actively listening to their feelings. Building trust and a good sense of the child’s emotional well-being which is important as they grow up.
