Resume:

My last trucking job was for Fisher County precinct's dragging a gravel road material belly-dump in a 15 mile radius of Roby, Texas. No DOT physical needed. This job did not conflict with my Church ministry duties that I list here now.

THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISION… any person can make is to REPENT of their sin… and receive the gift of eternal life by putting their faith and trust in The only begotten Son Of God… “Jesus Christ”.

I believe He Is God in human form; born of a virgin; crucified on a cross for my sins; died and was buried in a borrowed tomb and bodily rose from that grave 3 days later; was seen of men and 40 days later was witnessed … AS SCRIPTURE TEACHES… by many of them as he bodily ascended into Heaven and is now at the right hand of Our Heavenly Father.

I MADE THAT DECISION…..

at the age of 9 years old while attending Parkview Baptist Mission in Plainview, Texas. Pastor Dorman Kinard was preaching the Sunday morning service when I first understood my sinful condition. He preached The Gospel Message clear enough for me to understand. That’s when I repented and surrendered my life to Christ… was baptized the next Sunday.

My Lord Jesus has walked me thru life’s experiences of faithfulness, failure, repentance and forgiveness many times…and has assured me of my eternal salvation. I am His and He is mine FOREVER.

After graduation from Plainview High School in 1966….then I spent 3 years in The United States Army; serving 18 months in the Central Highlands of Pleiku, Vietnam before finishing my commitment time at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. I was honorably discharged in 1969.

Fast forward…..

I met and married my lovely wife in Abilene, Texas in 1972. We moved to Sylvester, in 1975 where I soon started teaching the senior adult men’s class. I also became the song leader…. That was at least 20 years before we ever heard the term..’Worship Leader’.

In 1979, Pastor P.A. Mitchum was faithfully preaching on ‘answering the call of God’ in our lives. At the age of 32, in mid-October, I gained victory in that battle when I understood that God was CALLING me into The Gospel Ministry. I answered that CALL and was “Licensed” to preach December 16, 1979.

For the next 22 months God was preparing me and my family to seek out where he was planning to use me.

My trucking job moved us to Sweetwater in 1980 and West Side Baptist …where I became their

Assistant Music Leader, and taught Adult Training Union Class. I shared with the Men’s Sunday School; my calling and desire to preach the gospel.

While learning how to serve and desiring to preach…. my first opportunity to fill in for an Interim Pastor… DAN BURROWS… IS A TREASURE IN MY HEART. That opportunity came as a hardship for him in the form of “back problems”.

So he made an emergency phone call to me at 7 a.m. on a Sunday Morning. OF COURSE I SAID YES, and I drove an hours drive to Buffalo Gap ….and by the grace of God, ….I preached for the first time to a group of people, that I’d never met. I was asked to return the following Sunday and soon became their Pastor. I was Ordained by my Sylvester ‘home church’ October 3,1981 on a Saturday afternoon and continued bi-vocational ministry there in Buffalo Gap for 2.5 years as we lived in their small parsonage.

Pastored bi-vocational : FBC Buffalo Gap 1981- ‘83.

Ordained To Ministry at my Home Church (Sylvester.)

Pastored bi-vocational : Moro Baptist 1984- ‘85 …while we lived in Abilene.

Pastored : FBC Desdemona 1985- ‘88. We moved into their small parsonage and I served Full time on a bi-vocational salary. I was blessed to preach a revival at Sweet Street Baptist in Tahoka, Tx in 1987…?

Pastored : Full time on a bi-vocational salary for…

Emanuel Baptist, Coleman, Tx. 1988- ‘89 in a rented house.

My wife’s health began to fail … and The Lord PROVIDED a meager home in Sylvester for us to enjoy the next dozen years before she passed away and joined The Lord in Heaven.

I was back to full time trucking during all of this… and we kept our children in Roby, Tx. School where they graduated ….while I lead music and taught the mixed Adult Sanctuary Class.

I married again… in November of 2003 and went back to ‘Supply Preaching’ ….

mostly in the (DMBA), Double Mountain Baptist Association Churches. Some of these were :

FBC Aspermont, Swenson, Peacock, FBC Rotan, Calvary-Rotan, FBC Hawley, 1st Haskell, Eastside Haskell, …. 2 Breckenridge Baptist Churches, and others before being asked to help out Noodle Baptist 2009-2010.

Back to Sylvester Baptist …Teaching Adult Sanctuary Class and… Supply Preaching .

Supplied a couple of times for Paint Creek Baptist out by Lake Stamford.

Interim Pastor: FBC Rochester 2018 ?…for 5 months when they called a Pastor

.

Back at Sylvester Baptist Teaching Sanctuary Class.

Supplied at Hodges Baptist 0nce or twice…

Interim Pastor: 75 mile drive to FBC Benjamin 2020-June 2022 Sunday 11 am-12 noon Service only. ….. Then God turned my ‘country-drive’ into an even greater blessing. The church at Rochester asked if I would preach for them at 9:30am before going to Benjamin to preach at 11am. There Pastor needed to relocate…. After a little prayer time…. I called them back, and I preached for both churches for 6 months. These two churches are only 20 miles apart.

{* The greatest blessing I ever had *} But at 74 years of age, I wore out and took a 6 month break.* } Back to my home church and then, …the phone rang and I was hooked.

Interim Pastor: FBC ROCHESTER JAN.2023- April 2024.

Of Course I went back, by invitation, to preaching Sunday Morning only 11-12 . I was there 15 months when The Lord touched the heart of their next Pastor.

*Praiseworthy note… Brad Wilkinson became Rochester’s new Pastor :-) April 14, 2024

And I am back at my home church again…. Our Pastor, Larry Archer asked me to teach the Adult Sanctuary Class again .

I’ve supplied 4 times in the last 3.5 months: FBC Rule… Sylvester Baptist… FBC Rochester…

And FBC Haskell on August 4, 2024.

In 43 years of pastoral ministry, I pastored 4 churches within a 75 mile radius of Abilene. I only sent ONE resume. It was my 4th pastorate. The others were by word of mouth or a phone number to call. five times I have served as an interim pastor since 2010. I’ve also ‘supplied’ in 23 different churches in Abilene and mostly our own Double Mountain Baptist Association. Some of those churches are 75 miles from my house.

I will turn 77 years of age in September of 2024. God has given me a good life …..

….. and greatly increased my “CHURCH FAMILY” with all the friends I’ve met and the 40 plus people that have come to Christ and followed with baptism…while I was ministering in the places The Lord has led me.

I am STILL AVAILABLE for “ PREACHING SUPPLY“ and “ Interim Pastor “… if the Lord so directs me.
