Career Highlights
Team Collaboration: Worked with anesthesia department at the Department of Veteran Affairs to develop and set up an overnight telephone answering service for anesthesia residents and faculty members to use to facilitate the setup of technical devices and equipment needed for the following day. This greatly enhanced the efficiency of the operating room team.
Problem Resolution: During tenure at Stanford Medical Center, won a Rose Award for outstanding performance during a major trauma in the operating room. This involved loss of a lot of blood while patient was giving birth. Assisted physicians by calmly setting up an arterial line to control blood loss while they tended to other matters.
Knowledge of Anesthesia Products: Thorough knowledge of a variety of anesthesia products and the issues they present in the operating room. For example, endotracheal tubes sometimes have a faulty design manufactured into them that can make the tubes dangerous to use. If the tube becomes loose in the trachea, it will not sustain positive pressure, causing inductionproblems.
