I am seeking a position of employment that will allow me to apply my background in mathematics and the electrical field to the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in industrial and commercial operations.

Education:

High School graduate, honor student, Stearns High School, Millinocket, ME, class of 1977.

Graduate of University of Maine, Orono, ME. Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics completed in May 1982 .

IBEW Electrician Apprenticeship Program, completed in May 1994. Currently have a state of Maine Master Electrician’s License.

Work experience:

July 2023 to January 2024:

Worked on a large solar power project located in Lincoln Maine. Assisted with installing solar panels, circuit wiring, terminating cables at combiner boxes, inverter boxes and transformers. Performed continuity checks and verified voltages at these stations also.

November 2020 to May 2023:

Got hired on to a large construction project building nuclear power facilities in Waynesboro, Georgia. Installed cable tray, cables, conduit supports, conduit, devices including outlets, switches, control boxes and circuit breaker panels. Also motor control centers, transformers and high voltage interrupter switches. Participated in lockout and tagout procedures, continuity checks and voltage verifications.

March 2020 to November 2020:

Worked on a construction project in Cape Canaveral, Florida building a rocket assembly building and a rocket launch pad. Installed conduit, many conduit supports, junction boxes, circuit breaker panels, control panels, Also transformers, automatic valves, many light fixtures, and motors for hvac systems.

January 2019 to February 2020:

Worked in Panama City, Florida for Burkes Mechanical Inc. Job consisted of doing hurricane repair work at the West Rock paper mill. Replaced a lot of cable tray and tray fittings. Also replaced many conduit runs, electrical devices, motor control centers, lighting, motors and many low voltage instruments.

April 2018 to November 2018:

Worked on a paper machine rebuild project at Sappi Industries for Sullivan & Merritt in Skowhegan, Maine. Installed conduit and supports, cable trays, cables, motor control centers, circuit breaker panels, light fixtures, instruments, and many electrical devices.

August 2014 to March 2018:

Worked as an Electrician / Instrumentation Technician at Wodland Pulp LLC located in Woodland Maine. Work consists of installing and maintaining electrical equipment and instrumentation devices used in processing pulp for making paper and paper products. Equipment installed includes Honeywell manufactured transmitters, and Allen Bradley variable frequency drives. Also many types of motors, motor control centers and power distribution equipment.

September 2010 to January 2014:

Employed as an Electrician / Instrumentation Technician for Lincoln Paper and Tissue located in Lincoln, Maine. Performed electrical installations and electrical maintenance on all types of electrical equipment. Work included calibration and installation on electronic transmitters including those that measure level, temperature, pressure, consistency, pH values, and conductivity. Also have been involved with programming and installing variable frequency drives. Was also been involved with installing new cabling and making program changes in plc controlled systems using RS Logix and Controllogix. Also have been assigned to projects doing repair and replacement of motors, power distribution, overcurrent devices, and general electrical equipment.

January 2009 to September 2010:

Employed as an Electrical / Instrumentation Technician working for ESOCO Orrington, also known as the Penobscot Energy Recovery Company located in Orrington, Maine. Work consisted of calibration and installation of many electronic transmitters used in monitoring power boiler operations. Also did maintenance on very large conveyor system repairing and replacing motors, wiring, speed switches, limit switches, remote cameras, motor starters, overcurrent devices, and area lighting

July 2004 to December 2008:

Employed as an Electrical / Instrument technician at Great Northern Paper Co. in Millinocket, Maine. Performed electrical maintenance on existing electrical equipment and installed new wiring and associated hardware for new equipment used for manufacturing paper and paper products. Acted as temporary supervisor numerous times for shutdowns, and also held the position of Training Coordinator for a major paper machine rebuild in 2002.

March 2003 to Jan 2004:

Employed by Border Electric Inc. as a construction electrician. Worked at Domtar Industries on a mill shutdown, and then on deep sea oil drilling structures in Portland ME.

May 1995 to Dec 2002:

Employed as a Maintenance Electrician at Great Northern Paper Co. Millinocket ME. Performed electrical maintenance on all types of electrical equipment used in the mill to manufacture paper and paper products.

Sept 1989 to Feb 1995:

Employed as an Electrician / Apprentice by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #1253. Worked on numerous construction jobs throughout the state of Maine, mostly at paper mills, for several contractors. Work included installation of motors, transformers, circuit breaker panels, AC and DC drives, lighting, receptacles, and all other types of utilization equipment.

May 1987 to Aug 1989:

Employed as a Mechanical Engineering Technician by Lindberg Engineering Inc. Worked as an HVAC balance technician, measuring and adjusting hydronic heating systems, and air handling units designed for commercial type buildings.
