PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE
To design, develop, optimize, and manage world class injection molded products, devices, and projects. I would like like to also like to work with many different types of materials plastics and processes. This would then require a diverse type of manufacturing proccesses and the project management to support them. I enjoy the entire art to part process and have experience taking projects from design through to production. I also product and manufacturing problem debugging enjoyable as well.
My goal is to be able to focus on customer satisfaction and company requirements while allowing creative engineering solutions to be the catalyst for continuous improvements within designing and manufacturing processes.
CAREER SUMMARY
PROCAD Technologies, LLC (2-2014 – Current)
Product Design and Engineering
Mold filling, stress, thermal, impact, linear, non-linear analysis Tool Design and Engineering
Develop complete product design and tooling solutions for various types of customers. Develop various electro-mechanical projects including the manufacturing process. Was required to use Stress, Thermal, Impact, Dynampic, and Flow Analysis to optimize the product designs and tooling designs. Utilized Solidworks Simulation Premium and Moldex3D flow analysis software. The Product designs included plastics housings, cast housings, and sheet metal.
Work directly with OEM’s or Tier 1 Tier 2 suppliers. Helping customers develop new products or redesign entire existing product lines. Helping customers pull work back from China and help them optimize domestically to be more efficient and compete with offshore tooling and manufacturing.
Contract Position - 11/12 – 2/14
Staff Engineer - Designed and managed multiple projects both onsite and directly with customer. Used ANSYS to evaluate high stress areas and monitor part performance. Developed, designed and introduced test fixturing to duplicate stresses and check for part failure.
Contract Position - 3/12 – 11/12 –
Sr Molding Engineer – Designed and managed all aspects of tooling, and interface with tool shop. Reviewed product line to determine best combination of design features for product and associated tooling. Design complete set of molds and inserts to produce product line along with other new custom projects. Recommended selected and managed installation of molding machine and auxilliary equpiment.
Avid Technologies - 2/08 - 3/12
Sr Mechanical Engineer - Managed tooling specifications and quoting process for product components. Design and Engineer complex mechanical housings for electronic products, including complete 3D and 2D design packages of plastic, sheet metal, and machined components. Received patent on metal / plastic explosion proof enclosure for first of its kind.
Audiopack - 6/06 - 12/07 (Company closed and moved out of state)
Global Tooling Manager / Sr. Product Engineer 10/06 – 12/07 –
Managed complete tool design process from conception through production. Qualified, selected, and monitored tool shops and molders for custom products. Reviewed, improved, and / or corrected existing tooling and processing problems to improve efficiency and quality. Managed 17 tools in China.
Designed and developed concepts for military and fire-fighting communications equipment.
Contract Position - 6/2005 - 6/2006
System Analyst/Project Engineer - Reduced Product Design process from 1-2 days to 4-6 minutes while merging several CAD systems. Created standards for engineering department to follow along with complete training program for product and tool designers.
A&E Products - 2/9/02 - 4/22/05 (Downsized-division sold)
Project Engineer - Design and develop new concepts to solve customer - specific requirements. International tooling travel and project management in Portugal and China. Improved rapid prototyping, low volume prototype mold design, fixture design, inspection, product test specifications, and testing by creating an inspection spreadsheet for calculation of the strength of an I-beam hanger profile to its specified material without the use of chemical analysis. Several patents are in process and approved.
