Supervise 12-17 CDCR inmates on grade projects in the public and rural setting while ensuring the safety of welfare of both the public and inmates. I trained and coached inmate firefighters on how to work as a team and complete handline on numerous incidents and training exercises safe and effectively. I had to become very versed with CCR title 15 crime prevention and protection and the 6400 manuals. I effectively used progressive discipline with verbal warnings noted on bed cards to issuing a 128-formal warning all the way up to a 115 and removal from camp. I coordinated travel and breaks to coincide with Cal Fire travel police and CDCR treatment of inmates throughout the state during emergency incidents, I completed administrative duties for payment of inmate times to the finance with FC-33 A’s. I obtained a Passenger Endorsement for Commercial Drivers License and completed daily driver logs per DOT regulations.
Additionally, I have been training at Prado Helibase for the captains’ position, I complete the Cal Fire C-271 Basic Helicopter Safety, and I have been flying to learn the B seat captain duties during Drop offs and extractions. I helped with CPT’s showing the unit the capabilities of the helicopter and how to properly ground fill the helicopter. I recertified my Helicopter manager this year with one of our SOLAR cooperator (OCFA) After my 3 days they asked if I would stick around and assist in instructing the NEW Helicopter managers taking the class.

Assigned to battalion 10 station 81 hazmat team east end of the county as a FAE. I was responsible for driving and checkout of a fire engine a specialized hazmat unit and a hazmat squad. I calibrated and serviced 6 gas and 4 gas detection equipment (multi rae and rae plus), radiation equipment (Ludlum and inspector), AGPtek freon /halogen detectors. My other duties consist of general supervision operate fire apparatus during wildland and structural fire-fighting operations, to lead an assigned crew in the performance of fire-fighting duties, to maintain and make minor repairs on vehicles, equipment, and the fire stations, to perform fire prevention tasks, and to do other related work. Stationed at Coyote fire station. In my 1st season I completed CAL Fire Defensive Driver Training, received additional training in EMS, Large Area Search, Hazmat, and wildland firefighting. I was cab person on every shift I worked regardless of what station I worked at. I was responsible for routing to incidents using Thomas Brothers guides and general knowledge of the areas. I proudly had the opportunity to serve on the Almaden Handcrew. I created/organized/inventoried the Almaden Handcrew fire cache @HQ.
