PIPE FITTER:

●Duties include lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.

●Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.

●Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.

●Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.

●Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.

●Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints. Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.

●Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.

STRUCTURAL WELDER:

●Structural welder duties include calibrating welding tools and equipment according to the parameters listed in the welding procedure specification (WPS).

●Analyze blueprints and structural drawings to layout the framework of a structure.

●Secure and fasten structural components using clamps, braces, jacks, and bolt straps.

●Carry out post-welding treatment of structures by cleaning, buffing, and polishing finished workpieces.

●Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defects and conform to set specifications.

●Conduct estimates to determine the cost of materials required for a welding project.

●Employ appropriate welding methods in completing structural fabrications.

●Operate cranes and forklifts to convey metal components and work materials to construction.

●Utilize manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions.

●Troubleshoot structures to identify and initiate repair of welding defects.

●Fit and weld metal components for pipelines, boilers, tanks and structural steel. Set equipment to weld in vertical, horizontal, flat or overhead positions.
