Experience

IDEXX Laboratories - Histology Supervisor March 2020 - September 2021 Supervised a team of twenty-one (21) Histology Technicians who performed laboratory testing, including grossing, microtomy, and slide staining, used to help veterinary pathologists diagnose and treat animals. As needed, assisted with bench tasks such as tissue embedding, microtomy, and grossing to ensure laboratory met case turnaround time. Assisted in the organization of staff schedules and coordination of workflow. Problem-solved everyday issues, ranging from troubleshooting diagnostic analyzers, resolving situational workflow issues, and turnaround time challenges. Performed maintenance on machinery, ensured repairs for machines were done in a timely manner, and ensured the laboratory was stocked with necessary consumables. Placed weekly orders to ensure the laboratory was fully stocked. Worked with other supervisors within and outside the histology department to optimize workflow and fix recurring issues in the laboratory.Worked under ISO accreditation.

Saint Anne’s Hospital - Histology Supervisor October 2018 - February 2019 Supervised and trained five (5) histology technicians and three (3) pathology secretaries. Performed H&E staining using Ventana HE 600. Performed immunohistochemistry (IHC) using the Ventana Ultra on patient samples ranging from biopsies, fine needle aspirates, and resections from surgeries. Performed special stains manually including PAS, GMS, and Trichrome. Embedded patient samples in paraffin. Established and maintained a quality assurance program that created laboratory goals and ensured that these goals were met. Reviewed Quality Control results for completeness and accuracy, and documented resolutions for out-of-control tests. Performed proficiency testing, performed the necessary comparative analysis and resolved all 2

proficiency testing result problems. Monitored proper functioning of laboratory equipment and documented maintenance repairs of defective equipment. Jounce Therapeutics - Histology Senior Research Associate June 2016 - July 2018 Assisted in the management of clinical and preclinical samples from internal and external research groups. Developed and executed IHC, RNA in situ hybridization (RNAscope), and multiplex immunofluorescence (multiplex IF) panels in order to provide support to project teams. Performed necropsy and grossing on mice and rats. Developed and optimized assays for indication selection for project teams. Worked on improvement processes within the pathology department, including organization of biobank and development of workflow for FFPE blocks and slides. Trained and assisted in development of other scientists and co-ops within the company. Assisted in the management of histologic workflow, equipment, and reagents. Designed and implemented IHC and RNAscope assays following customer needs and design control for the Leica BOND III and BOND Rx automated platform. Performed verification and validation (V & V) of said assays. Sectioned and stained human FFPE tissue with H&E, IHC and RNAscope stains to support various projects. Conducted experiments to optimize various biomarker assays in a range of cancer indications. Analyzed and captured images of slides stained with H&E, IHC, and ISH in order to determine the level of various markers’ expression. Assisted technical leads to ensure accurate experimental results. Performed data analysis on experimental results using Microsoft Excel. Co-authored reports and presentations. Supported clinical trials by assisting with the training of technical teams on Leica’s RUO/IUO assays. Supported the quality system with the creation of Work Instructions, SOPs, and data forms. Worked with various animal models, such as rats, mice, dogs, pigs, rabbits, and non-human primates. Processed tissues using an automated tissue processor. Embedded various tissue types in paraffin. Used a microtome to cut, on average, 300 blocks a day. Stained slides manually and with an automated stainer. Stained slides with several special stains, including H&E, Masson’s trichrome, PAS, Giemsa, and acid fast. Managed the entirety of the histology laboratory’s tissue archiving, including archival of blocks, slides, and 3

wet tissue samples. Trained employees on protocol and SOPs of the laboratory. Worked under GLP and GDP standards and ISO accreditation.

Boston Medical Center - Research Assistant August 2012- July 2013 Assisted in experiments to achieve immunological research objectives. Performed histological techniques, including tissue embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining. Maintained, organized, and cleaned laboratory for highest efficiency. Managed inventory of various laboratory equipment. Completed research project on the effect of obesity and diabetes upon activity in the immune systems of mice.
