Activities, Achievements and Contracts Exposure: I handled the O&M of Salto de Gomil HPP on the daily activities, operations, maintenance, etc. I worked with six Civil Engineers and I as Electromechanical engineer, and several CAD operators. We worked under a matrix structure, so I reported to the Project Manager of the projects on electromechanical matters I handled, and they reported to me on Salto de Touro HPP where I acted as the Project Director. We worked on fifteen hydro projects from tendering phase to O&M and my support was on electromechanical matters and the liaison with the Civil Works.

Contracts: we worked as per the matrix structure, i.e. each project involved a Civil Engineer and I as electomechanical engineer, then the Managing Director supervised the contract draft with the Legal advisor. There were some contracts were only I and the MD were involved such as the generating equipment, communications or the transmission lines ones. The contracts were based on the Yellow and Red Fidic ones. The contracts with the offtaker were under the FiT tariff.

Hence, I had several wind farms under different stages of development. Activities, Achievements and Contracts Exposure: I was the only engineer in the company who worked with the Owner, the Financial manager and the permitting manager. My first assignment was to manage the Operations and Maintenance of the two hydropower plants already under operations. I also carried out all the technical activities since reconnaissance study to manage the O&M and refurbishment of the existing plants (Chantada and Taboada HPP). Managed several concurrent plants’ development. Each project involved up to 20 different suppliers, contractors, consultants, counselors, etc, managing technical design (civil works and electromech), EIA, Health and Safety Plan, contractor’s management, construction site supervision, commissioning coordination and O&M plans development and implementation.

Contracts: I worked in liaison with the Legal advisor and the Financial manager to draw up the different contracts with the following third parties: weir, intake and powerhouse contractor; turbine manufacturer; generator manufacturer; gates manufacturer; electrical and SCADA contractor; transmission line contractor; hydrologist consultant; local right of way agents; land line contractor; local communities; offtaker (Naturgy); contractual documents with Water, Labor, Environmental regional administrations and Municipalities, etc. Finally, I administered the contracts during construction, their claims, variation orders management, punch lists, taking overs, etc. The contracts with the offtaker were under the FiT type. We had only one EPC contract and the rest were split contracts directly with the suppliers which entailed a huge number of different contracts for these plants under construction which took less than a year to be under commercial operations. Aside from the hydropower projects I also acted as Owner’s engineer during the construction of the diesel cogeneration plant (Picusa 5 MW) and supported the Operations and Maintenance department of Aluminios Cortizo cogeneration plant (10 MW), giving support on engineering, procurements, construction, installation, commissioning, O&M, etc.

Hydropower plants: Segade 9 MW, Caldas presa 1 MW, Santabaia 1.4 MW (Pelton), Liñares 4.02 MW, Castro 4.2 MW.
