Peer Mentor

TAPS - Virginia

February 2021 to Present

This is a non-paid job, I have obtained the certification process of becoming a peer mentor it is all online. The organization listed above is a tragedy assistance program for survivors, which is only for military surviving families, the organization reaches out as support and helps families of recent and older military losses whether it was from combat or in worst cases self-inflicted, or just due to natural causes. As a certified peer mentor, I am paired up with people that have reached out needing a peer mentor, since I am a gold star child myself and have lost a parent due to combat, but in my case, I am helping another through the grieving process, and just to be a buddy. it is unpaid work that, is just simply giving from the heart.

Equestrian Instructor

Lennon Equine Therapy - Scottsdale, AZ

June 2015 to Present

As an instructor/mentor and lifelong horse work, when I am able to be home from school at the farm our therapy is a therapeutic program that focuses on horses' transformative and empathic abilities when I am home from school at Lennon equine therapy. We offer an experiential and healing experience as horses encourage self-discoveries, mindfulness, and confidence and help us to find our center, our happy place. At Lennon Equine Therapy, we discover innovative ways to strengthen the connection between horse and human relationships by incorporating the discipline of Liberty Horsemanship, which is communicating through kindness, observation, and the communicative understanding of the horse's body language. Allowing the horse to be in its natural environment will enable us to understand their behavior, thinking patterns, and personas, even in a herd mindset. It is not what we can teach the horse but what they can teach us. To give horses another second chance at life, we take horses that are being sold to kill pens and save them. These horses that deserve a second chance at life are hard to break when it comes to trust, but coming from the Navajo traditions with horses, we can break them with love and companionship. The second chance at life and the stories of the horses we save from what they came from inspire our clients. Deckhand
