Supervise the activities of a unit of detained juveniles within the living area or during special activities. Instruct juveniles and staff on appropriate behavior for unit control during daily routines. Initiate or advise staff of the appropriate action to be taken in connection with rule infractions or other disturbances within the unit.
Control and restrain combative or emotionally disturbed juveniles; approve the transfer of such juveniles to an intensive care unit.
Advise staff of the actions appropriate to maintain unit security and prevent escapes. Ensure that the admission, orientation, classification, and release of juveniles are conducted properly. Provide situational counseling to assist individual juveniles through their daily routines.
