· Manage and mentor 12 engineers and assist over sixteen production lines and maintenance with hands-on continuous improvement covering seven plants, totaling nearly one million sq. ft.

· Responsible for concepts, designs, manufacturing, machine/tool building and testing for multiple plants with over 1500 employees remanufacturing an estimated 1000 automotive transmissions daily.

· Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, improve tooling management, and provide collaborative support and expertise in semi and full automation processes.

· Hire, train and manage engineering staff, ensuring that all designs, done in AutoCAD and INVENTOR, are right for the application with cost-efficient results. In addition, scheduling and budgeting projects.

· Manage projects from concept to manufacturing, assembly and installation of high-speed inspection machines, sorting, packaging, walking beams, pick & places and progressive dies.

· Manage continuous improvement and train a group of designers, machine builders and machinists. · Implement lean manufacturing processes in the machine shop and design efficient tools for the CNC department. And, assisted with G-Code, PLC programming, AutoCAD and INVENTOR designs. Execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals.

PROJECT ENGINEER/MANAGER ITW-TRANS TECH AMERICA NOV. 1994 – DEC. 1999

· Hands-on designing with AutoCAD and program management for high-speed automation, assembly cells for the electronic and pharma market and pad printing machines for the decorating industries.

· Develop and manage the designs and standardization for high-speed pad printer machines.

· Supervise and lead a team of (6) engineers, assist (40) machine builders and support the sales department with concepts, presenting technical ideas to customers and helping R&D with patents.

· Design cost-efficient fixtures for the CNC machine department and assisted the purchasing department with vendor negotiation and approval. In addition, assisting sales with quoting and budgeting.

PROJECT LEAD ENGINEER MID-WEST AUTOMATION, INC. JAN. 1990 – OCT. 1994

· Began as mechanical designer and within a year I was promoted to project lead engineer.

· Hands-on full module designs including table indexers, pick & places, walking beams, conveyors, and feeders for high-speed custom automation machines. All designs were done in AutoCAD.

· Supervise the work of designers and draftsmen while implementing and overseeing standardization.

· Assist machine builders and machinists reducing timelines for the development of equipment on the floor; often personally assisting with building, debugging and testing the equipment before shipping.

Technical Skills

Extensive experience with INVENTOR, AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, ERP/MRP Systems & Microsoft Office. Experienced CNC & manual machinist/machine builder, welder, lean methodologies, OSHA and others. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and fluent bilingual English/Spanish.
