AT&T - Design Manager / Sr Specialist Tech Manager Responsible for OSP Planning, Engineering, and Construction Support teams to develop new guidelines for administering, allocating, and maintaining fiber in our network. The changes will establish consistent administration guidelines to maximize capital and minimize risk by administering fiber by ribbon rather than individual strand, administering fiber at Fiber Access Points, and forecasting demand to provide relief ahead of exhaust. As OSP Planner Manager I assumed the sole responsibility for the administration and allocation of the fiber networks. In Planning Handoff Package with the required information to implement the FAP according to the guidelines. FAP location, preferred count, cable sizing, fiber count, taper points, and anything else required to complete the undertaking. I liaised with vendors & contractors to perform pre-walk surveys, overseen the OPS fiber design of MDU’s, and client-based locations. Responsible for the Quality inspection of all market area vendor/ contractor-based fiber build.
Operational Responsibilities Accessibility - Provides access for daily work operations, supports restoration initiatives and allows for a safe working environment. Clearing rights - Verify with the Transmission (Long-Haul) OSP Engineer that trimming rights exist.
Landowner Notification - Notification to landowners and/or tenants should be given. This may not be legally required but helps maintain good public relations. It is highly recommended that face-to-face contact be made just prior to trimming activity. Verification of right of way - Prior to trimming the right of way, boundaries should be verified using cable records and locating tone. In some locations, the cable may not be where it is thought to be. These issues need to be worked on with the Transmission (Long-Haul) OSP Engineer.
