Currently, I have a caseload of 160 clients. I am the only Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
I interview clients for an assessment, to build more information about past and current treatment and talk about any medication they might currently be taking, and any medication they have taken in the past. I also gather information about their past housing situation, either living with family or being homeless.
I also work with clients to help provide training either with Acces-Vr, Ace and or The Fortune Society. If clients are recently released, I help the clients get new I.D.s, from the state so they can apply for various services, they need to help them increase a healthy connection with family and their community. For clients, Odyssey is a better alternative to incarceration.
I develop clients resumes, setting up GED classes, getting copies of their GED and H.S. diplomas, and College degree and transcripts. Doing group seminars with clients, scheduling clients to get missing I.D.s. I enter client’s information into awards data base for review. Interview clients about their criminal background and education.
I perform an initial intake of all clients to vocational /educational background information, identify needs and develop a preliminary plan of services to meet these needs. Conduct a Comprehensive Educational Vocational Assessment; utilize the results of the intake.
Education/ Assessment to develop a vocational rehabilitation plan. Also provide on-going individual and group counseling to help clients make appropriate decisions and assist with completing goals.
Participate in case conference, team meetings, and in-service workshops. Develop and implement formalized curriculum to train clients in employability, personal development and life skills.
