Objective
To continue a rewarding career using my skills and experience manufacturing aerospace structures. Coordinating all engineering disciplines from design to production, materials, process and communicating highly technical concepts.
Work history
Janicki Industries, Hamilton, WA – Project Engineer III, 2021 – Present. Working in a dynamic team environment to develop and manufacture Aerospace Composite panels and their assemblies for military and space applications. Obtained secret level Department of Defense security clearance. Responsible for schedule and budget to deliver quality parts on time. Applying the rules of lean manufacturing to improve quality and efficiency. Monitoring improvements using SPC.
Safran Aerospace, Bellingham WA – Senior Manufacturing Engineer, 2004 – 2021 A team member coordinating product development, estimating, design, planning, purchasing, and manufacturing 100% quality aircraft composite panels delivered on-time. Responsible for manufacturing engineering drawing signature approval, manufacturing tooling and equipment design. 17yrs MRB authority responsible for NCR dispositions. Develop standard work instructions for every operation.
Lean manufacturing techniques using right size equipment and tools including presses/ovens, mold dies/lay-up mandrels, 5-axic CNC machines, CNC tool path programming, holding fixtures and assembly jigs. Achieved lean six sigma green belt certification. Materials and process development for new products. Production facility design and lay-out to eliminate waste. Awarded, “innovator of the year” and “expert”, for new processes and tooling designs that support lean manufacturing techniques of one-piece flow, just in time and the pull system. Invited to present the idea at the Safran cooperate technology symposium. Recognized by our customers; Boeing and Airbus to share our lean production line as a model for their improvements. Showcased the lean techniques in the international Zodiac magazine as leader in continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities.
Westport Shipyard, Port Angeles, WA – Manufacturing Engineer 2003 – 2004 Supervisor in the development of the resin infusion process to manufacture production quantities of the new design 50-meter motor yachts composite structure. Angeles Composite Technologies, Port Angeles, WA – Manufacturing Engineer 1997 – 2003 Responsible for all Aerospace Composite manufacturing including bid proposal, bill of materials, planning, tool design, CNC programming, process control and project management. Engineering Team representative to author the engineering chapters of the ACTI quality manual to be qualified to Boeings AQS D1-9000. Wrote qualification and production planning to Boeing process specification BAC5317-1, -2, -3 and -5 autoclave cure processes. Supported high security DoD Boeing composite R&D off-load programs to be cured in our 10 x 40ft autoclave capable of 800F and 250psi. C&D Aerospace, Huntington Beach, CA – Manufacturing Engineer 1996 – 1997 Implemented process control at the crush core press for the MD80, MD90 and Embraer production line. Developed sound dampening constructions for side wall panels as an R&D project for the M&P department.
