Personal Statement: My name is Jorrel Meikle-Clarke, 28 years old, Mid-Level PHP Web Developer and job-searching.

I have been professionally working as a web developer for 5 years, working with projects which use a vast number of technologies such as MySQL, Laravel, JavaScript, WordPress to name a few.

All my career thus far has been at a digital agency, this environment has been beneficial to my work ethic because 1) It keeps me on my toes regarding meeting deadlines 2) handling issues/problem from a multitude of projects.

I came into this career path, leaving university with a bachelor’s and master’s degree (BSc (Hons) Computing & MSc Web Mobile App Development respectively). Ironically, I believe I gained more knowledge being hands on with real time projects from learning API calls to SEO schema data.

On a personable aspect, I’d like to view myself as good with communication from a social and professional level. Consistent communication regarding updates to other staff on the progression, and on the other hand, I’d like to have a good rapport socially with all my team members just to make work life that much easier.

Prior to applying for the course, it wasn’t in my plans to do a master’s degree but it showed me, the sky is the limit.

I worked at DPD, through the agency Career Link, which involves parcel sorting. This job consists of Back of Housework including Infeed which means putting Parcels onto the Belt and Outfeed which means putting Parcels into the Van where they can be delivered to the location assigned. Also I would be on the floor which consists of using the Pump-up Truck to carry multiple parcels at once. This experience will be beneficial, because at work it can get intense and busy, which forces you to keep a level head and get the job done.

September 2016 – 2019 – McDonalds Team Member

I was predominately kitchen staff, working part time whilst being a student. This job was fast paced as expected but I quickly adapted to it and enjoyed the experiences. Developing the skill to provide fast but quality results.

February 2019 - Present – Clever cherry Web Developer

I initially arrived to this digital agency as an “Graduate Web Developer”, after developing experience and getting emersed in the career, I am now a mid-level Web Developer confident in handling a vast amount of projects.
