1. Porter I (Duties)
As a Porter I we help out Border Patrol, our responsibilities are diverse and essential to the operational needs of the facility. It includes managing detainee (immigrants) personal property, meal preparation, inventory management, packing and relocating supplies, making pharmacy runs for nurses for the detainees, and assisting with the delivery of sensitive government file. We also contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility ground's including inside and outside areas and may be tasked with operating access doors and answering phone calls. Overall we take care of ensuring the safety, care, and supervision of detainees by fulfilling a range of operational tasks efficiently and effectively. Porter II (Supervisor)-Duties
As a Porter II, our responsibilities include maintaining the correct staffing levels for each shift and ensuring that Porter I workers are performing their duties correctly. This involves making independent walkarounds to inspect assigned sections and verify that tasks are being completed according to the rules. As a Porter II role it is essential for maintaining operational efficiency and quality standards within the facility.
• I started as a Porter I from June 22, 2023, to December 7, 2023, doing my job well. On December 8, 2023, the Assistant Site Manager made me Acting Supervisor. I looked after the porter team and kept things running smoothly.
