Owned and operated a handyman and landscaping service. Estimated
jobs, scheduled projects and performed the work. Did a vast array of
household maintenance work including installing and repairing drywall,
painting, electrical, plumbing and landscaping other work as required. Had to close due to a shoulder injury that prevented me from continuing in that type of work. Did not pursue employment immediately to give
my shoulder time to heal and also to continue in my leadership position
with the Convoy of Hope.

Dispatcher/Trainer
Answered 911 lines and entered calls for service into the computer. I was
qualified to answer law enforcement, fire and medical calls and give
appropriate instructions for the emergency ranging from safety to life
saving instructions. Was also qualified as a radio dispatcher on law
enforcement, fire and medical consoles. I was also a field training
officer and trained the newly hired employees to answer 911 calls and
also to back up the dispatchers. As employees progressed and were
ready I would train them in other positions in the center. Also worked
with the shift supervisor to ensure that staff was following proper
protocols and procedures.

Provided dispatch services to numerous state and federal agencies.
Assisted local dispatch centers throughout Western South Dakota in
making entries into the Nation Crime Information Computer as well as
assisting them in obtaining state and federal resources as needed. I would
take calls from service from the public and local dispatch centers and
dispatch the appropriate resources. I also developed a computer aided
Dispatching program that was used for several years until a commercial
Product was purchased.

Police Officer
Started as a Police Officer with the Chadron Police Department eventually becoming an investigator specializing in the areas of Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Assault. I also had the opportunity to found the Hay Springs Nebraska Police Department and serve as Chief of Police for 2 years and then returning to Chadron. This was an incredible opportunity as this community had been contracting with the county Sheriff’s Department prior so everything needed to be done, from establishing a budget to writing policies and procedures. To to health issues with my youngest child we moved to Rapid City where I joined the Sturgis Police Department for four years before moving into dispatch.

Ellsworth AFB, SD 10/1979

Attended basic training and tech school at Lackland AFB, Texas, combat training at Ft.Medina, Tx and then permanent station at Ellsworth AFB assigned to the 45th MSS when I served as a topside guard, camper crew member and scheduler/dispatcher in the missile field. I received an honorable discharged on 10/14/1979.
