I ran two different asset recovery units here. The first was an all encompassing mix of new hire asset recovery agents who hadn’t proven themselves on any portfolio as well as trainees who had never done consumer asset recovery before. It was a mixture of dialer-assisted asset recovery as well as follow-up to ensure asset recovery specialists followed through with promises made to our clients. Just some of the portfolios which came through my unit were: HSBC, American Express, and Capitol One. Each of these had its own exacting standards our offices were required to follow. Financial reports were done at the end of every day to follow our successes. The second unit ran was an automotive, post-repossession unit. It had a small amount of unsecured second mortgage collections that were introduced shortly after I took over the unit. Both units were educated and monitored on a daily basis for compliance with FDCPA standards.
Collection Manager
Law Offices of D. Michael Dendy
January 2001 – August 2005
You never forget your first job in a particular industry. This was no different. I was introduced to asset recovery at this office and only 3 months after being a collector I was offered a unit manager position. I had Nine people under me. I was in charge of training FDCPA and State laws regarding consumer Ronald Loupe - page 2
asset recovery. I was taught how to read a variety of financial reports and I learned to find trends on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. I monitored and reported any violations of an ethical or illegal nature regarding both customer service standards and federal law. I also collected my own file assigned to me and had a monthly budget requirement. I learned how to create and manage an archaic dialer program that was far from predictive.
