Paramedic role consisted of operating and maintaining ambulance and equipment, providing advanced care life support. I was chosen to mentor paramedic students and new hire paramedics to provide feedback and guidance on patient assessment and skills.
I was chosen to attend state EMS conferences and EMS world conference where I had the opportunity to attend a cadaver lab and practice different intubation techniques as well as I.O., needle decompressions and cricothyrotomy.
I was selected within the fire department to take on the role of a community health paramedic which consisted of 12 paramedics who worked with a physician assistant to identify and target frequent 911 users and educate them on chronic illness and medications. We held clinics at resource centers and senior centers and identified patients with uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes along with other chronic illnesses and provided a plan of action to control chronic conditions.
