Touring Musician & Songwriter 1987– PRESENT

Earned regional and national acclaim as a singer-songwriter through 25 years’ experience touring across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Opened for diverse acts, including Bob Dylan, Fugazi, Ani Difranco, Indigo Girls, Shellac, Hootie and The Blowfish, Darius Rucker, Patterson Hood, The Melvins, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Sarah McLaughlin, The Avett Brothers, Elliot Smith, Junior Brown, and many others.

Wrote, performed, and released hundreds of songs and 16 full-length albums, including solo work and releases from the bands Danielle Howle + Firework Show, Danielle Howle & the Tantrums, and Lay Quiet Awhile.

Delivered guest lectures on performing, songwriting, and creativity at colleges and universities including Yale, Brown, Penn State, Columbia College, the University of South Carolina, the University of Georgia, and College of Charleston.

Collaborated with other performing artists to perform, record, and produce songs on their albums.

Contributed original music to films, television shows, commercials, and documentaries, including “The Station Agent,” an award-winning independent film, featuring actor Peter Dinklage’s “breakthrough performance.”

Serve as Musical Education Director and Concert Coordinator for a state-of-the-art music venue centered around an old barn in Lowcountry South Carolina, just outside the Frances Marion National Forest.

Plan and coordinate weekly Barn Jam concerts in collaboration with the venue owner, production staff, participating musicians, and volunteers.

Collaborate with the venue owner, representatives of partner organizations, and other stakeholders to plan, coordinate, produce, and present concerts, festivals, and special events.

Oversee the work of staff and volunteers involved in set-up, production, food service, donation collection, merchandise sales, and facility management for multiple events.

Interact with musicians, production staff, media representatives, and audience members; answer questions, give directions, and provide assistance to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.

Swamp Sessions Francis Marion National Forest, SC

Founder and producer of three-day, two-night singer-songwriter retreats hosted at a solar-powered cabin in the Francis Marion National Forest.

Plan multiple retreats each year for up to 10 attendees, and coordinate all aspects of retreat planning, including marketing and outreach, attendee registration, scheduling, travel, and meals.

Plan curriculum, activities, and schedule for each retreat with Co-instructor.

Instruct creativity and songwriting workshops and provide one-on-one coaching to attendees.
