Chicago Police Officer
I am a 26 year Veteran of the Chicago Police Department. My most recent position is Commander of Police. In this role I supervise over three hundred sworn and civilian personnel. I was responsible for planning, supervising, and reviewing activities of all personnel assigned to the 005th District, which include operations and support service function. I had to ensure that my supervision was clear and concise to all of my subordinates.

As Commander of the 005th District, the administrative nature of my work require considerable responsibility for making decisions regarding actions to be taken, independent judgment in the interpretation of policies and procedures, as well as application of laws and ordinances

As a Chicago Police Officer I served in various leadership positions such as a Lieutenant and Sergeant of Police. In these positions I had the responsibility, to positively engage members of the community with the goal of fostering productive relationships in a collaborative effort to promote safe communities. I was responsible for the development, updating, and management of individuals assigned to my various units and team that i have lead. I have created initiatives and plans to address crime within communities that I have been assigned. I had the responsibility to observe trends and address crime in the area. I would resolve crime related issues with a formal plan to address patterns and deal with citizens' complaints. I would assist in effecting arrest analyzing patterns and trends that were crime related. I reinforced my employers ongoing commitment to build community relationships, strengthen trust, develop partnerships, and facilitate healing with the communities that I served.

As a Sergeant when assigned to the Bureau of Internal Affairs, I conducted administrative misconduct investigations with integrity, transparency, and timeliness and to ensure investigations are conducted with the highest level of integrity and investigative findings were supported by the appropriate standard of proof.

As an Officer I conducted Investigation consisting surveillance which led to the preparation and management of the execution of over 116 Search Warrants. As a Gun Team Member, I assisted other team members with the execution of over 300 Search Warrants. While assigned to various units within the Chicago Police Department I recovered over 1500 illegal weapons that plagued the streets of Chicago.

Recognize Crime Patterns involving gun violence within the community. Utilization of resources to investigate and prosecute convicted felons involved in crimes committed with the use of guns.

Refer to U.S. Attorney's Office involving investigations and possible prosecution on Convicted Felons committing a crime while armed.
Work in partnership with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to work as an effective unit to isolate key factors driving gun related crimes.

My responsibilities consisted of telling the Army Story while ensuring that the individuals under my charge were proficient and marketable in our mission to give a positive view on the various opportunities the U.S. Army had to offer.
