Elementary Teacher
As a talented and versatile elementary teacher with valuable practical experience in education and curriculum development, I confidently offer my skills in student needs assessment, learning strategies, workflow streamlining, and testing to the role of Primary School Teacher.
Recognized for a reputation as an organized hard-worker, my resourceful nature allows me to engage students and encourage them to actively participate in class through hands-on lesson plans. I have advanced capabilities in evaluating existing operations processes, targeting inefficiencies, and creating effective solutions to develop positive and beneficial learning environments for diverse student groups. While I establish lesson plans that adhere to the Ontario Curriculum, I also incorporate many tools and resources to make the lessons more activity based—which has garnered very positive results and feedback from both the students and my superiors evaluating me. In addition, I am known for taking an “above and beyond” approach to helping students on Individual Education Plans by providing them with necessary individual guidance in their homework and projects. Furthermore, I am proficient in classroom management, and assisting students with learning disabilities by providing visual aids or modifying the lesson to accommodate their needs.
Below I have listed a few accomplishments, which attest to the absolute value I have to offer.
As a Teacher, I taught students ranging from kindergarten to grade 10 in all subjects; subsequently creating daily lesson plans that were often activity based to ensure active student participation. I often stayed during after school hours to assist any students that were struggling with course material.
In addition, I taught many students on Individual Education Plans (IEP) and provided them with the individual help as needed. I also assisted them in creating a model project on the body’s respiratory system for science class.
As a Primary/Junior Teacher, I also taught over 20 grade 9-12 students that were lacking credits. Because of their diverse academic skillset, my daily lesson plans required a great deal of research and preparation to properly tailor them to each student’s individual needs.
I continually pursue knowledge and skills to improve my teaching methods by attending various workshops and volunteer events. Furthermore, I am analytical yet innovative in culminating instructional plans and activities to effectively create a fluid and engaging lesson for every class. I assure you my resourceful nature, positive attitude, and adaptability will contribute to meeting and exceeding International or Academy School’s goals and expectations as a Primary Teacher.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I welcome and look forward to your response.
With gratitude,
Mary Mariyathas
