Conduct Assessments on troubled adolescents charged with Contempt of Court originally stemming from a Truancy Charge.
Make necessary referrals for troubled youth& families to community service providers that addressed the issues that may have originally initiated and/or led to the Truancy/Contempt charge.
Strategically developed Individual Service Plans designed to encourage positive behavior in the youth in hopes/efforts of them implementing new & permanent changes that would hopefully lead them towards positive behavior.
Provide Case Management by placing youth on a Diversionary Participation Agreement with the court for a period or three to six months where monitoring of school attendance was the primary objective. Monitoring of school attendance was conducted every ten days via email and or facsimile transmission.
Monthly review hearings were scheduled with the families to ensure that they were in compliance with referral services/providers as well as other assigned conditions.
Maintain chronological case history & documentation along with relevant feedback from schools, service providers, treatment centers & the referring courts.
If child failed to comply with court assigned service plan/orders & all other options had been attempted & for child’s lack of cooperation, then the youth’s Contempt Charge was referred to the Dallas County Juvenile District Attorney’s office for the recommendation of filing the case against the youth.
