ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Title: Novel Collagen-Based Films to Treat Open Wounds in Elderly from Nile Tilapia Fish.
Prices: First place in KSCST state level competition, Second place in SRISHTI state level competition
Duration: Oct’21 –May’22
Team size: 4
Brief Description: Developing collagen films to treat open wounds in elders, who face low collagen turnover, by extracting collagen from Tilapia fish. The collagen extracted is made into a bio composite to increase the denaturing temperature of fish collagen, which is then drawn into sheets/gauze and made into a wound dressing.
Title: Expression Analysis of Metallothionines in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Lung Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, and Psoriasis
Duration: May - Aug’21
Team Size: 4
Description: Carried out the expression analysis for various diseases from the statistical table obtained from NCBI (National Centre for Biotechnology Information) using GEO2R tool. The significant metallothionines (MTs) were retrieved using statistical criteria by using articles as references. The pathways of MTs were checked using ENRICHR tool and protein-protein interactions were studied using STRING database. To understand the upregulation and downregulation of MTs genes, volcano plot was constructed for a better visual representation. From the project, most of the MTs were found to be upregulated and significant genes. Venn diagram was used to find the common isoforms of MTs in the above-mentioned diseases. These significant MTs could be used as a biomarker, which was obtained from articles and was checked using BioNDA tool and MarkerDb.
