Project Title: Utilization of steel fibres in papercrete
Project Description: Papercrete is a sustainable building material due to reduced amount of cement usage and recycled paper. It consists of pulped paper fibre, Portland cement and sand in addition to that steel fibres are added to increase the flexural strength depending upon the proportion of fibres . It has numerous advantages in construction industry namely low carbon emission, use of recycled materials,high thermal insulation, high sound absorption, aesthetic and cost effective. By using paper pulp for making bricks it will reduce approximately 50% of weight of the brick . Therefore, these bricks will reduce the dead weight of the structure .Papercrete bricks are relatively low cost, light weight and more flexible and they are most suitable for earthquake prone areas.
