GOALS: To learn more about the IT field and grow my skills. I’m currently attending Calbright College to acquire my CompTIA A+ certificate. After achieving my CompTIA A+, I will study to attain my CompTIA Network+.

Field Nation Technician

Drive to job sites, troubleshoot IT problems, and provide professional customer service. When I could not solve the issue, technical support was always on standby to help walk me through the solution. The best part is when I work with a team.

EXPERIENCE:

[PC Refresh] Company: Presidio

Investment firm needed to move workstations between floors. Stations involved dismounting old monitors, PC’s, data and power cables, and UPS battery backup systems. On the battery backup there is surge protection and battery backup outlets. New monitors, new PC’s were installed along with peripherals. Peripherals included a handheld scanner, bluetooth keyboard and mouse. New PC’s needed the same programs to be downloaded. Support engineer recommended having a thumb drive to download all programs then download all programs from the thumb drive. If we downloaded programs over the network it would take 30 minutes longer.

[Router Refresh] Company: Insight

Verify all material is on site. Inform staff that the internet will be down for about an hour to install a new router and cradlepoint. Cisco MerakiMX68 router and MerakiMGK cradlepoint installed with power and ethernet cable. Support engineer would guide which cable needs to be disconnected in order. Cradlepoint serves as a backup network just like a hotspot or cellular signal. Cradlepoint serves as a temporary network until the main router is back online. If the cable needed to be traced to be ported into a brand new port, then I would trace the cable using a cable tracer/toner. Once cable was traced, cable needed to be ported into a new switch or go straight into Cisco router depending on what the engineer wanted to do. Finally, a speed test needed to be done in order to figure out latency, upload and download speeds. Take note of IP addresses through IP chicken or IP monkey.

[POS Refresh] Company: Pivotal

I was a lead technician on these projects for Target and Sam’s club projects. Old registers needed to be wiped, support engineers would begin wiping the hard drive process which would take about 25 minutes when initiated. In order for the wiping process to begin the registers needed to be connected to the network. When the network wall jack was faulty, I would bring a longer ethernet cord and connect to a nearby data wall jack. My main job was decommissioning the old registers and having the crew come behind and build new registers. Installation involved old monitor, new pole mount, new EPU dock where all peripherals would connect.
