I am a Psychology major at SUNY Old Westbury. Currently, I am seeking part time or full-time overnight employment. Over the summer am I participating in a nonpaid internship program which I need to complete my degree. I am of the mindset that an individual does not get paid for the hour, rather the individual gets paid for the value they bring to the hour.
I am not your average student. I am 58 years old and bring a life of experience and education with me. My strengths are in organization and innovation with effective communication and people skills, which stem from both sympathy and empathy. Back when I was seven, I was told that I would never get past a third-grade level in school. I will allow my resume to speak for itself. This was just one of several obstacles that I have overcome. This experience is a major asset when dealing with impacted populations. It puts forth a creditability that cannot be found in books alone.
I believe that I would be an asset to your work. I am an individual who cares and believes in an old saying that the “work praises the man and is a reflection of his character.” I was employed full-time at Macys (as well as a full-time student) in the year and a half that I was at Macys my innovation and organization has almost tripled sales in the area I am assigned. This is the dedication and responsibility that I bring to every task.
