IT Manager

As an IT Manager with the US Army I find myself communicating and planning with multiple departments and personalities. Conditions are always changing due to new information. This keeps the role fresh and challenging. In this position I regularly handle the following role responsibilities:

• Forecasting IT needs for the organization of roughly 35,000 team members. Budgeting for those needs accordingly.

• Disaster recovery planning and documentation to ensure business continuity.

• Leading a team of 65 IT professionals that support our organization across the state of Texas.

• Design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.

• Implementation of our cybersecurity strategy that spans several departments in our organization. This includes documentation, planning, and introduction of best risk management practices to defend the Army's DOD infrastructure against the world's leading hackers.

• Using many different tools in both Windows and Linux operating systems we have mitigated many vulnerabilities. We use Splunk for our SIEM, Sentinel One as our EDR, and many popular Linux tools to protect our infrastructure.

• In the Cybersecurity space I competed in the Cyber Skyline National Cyber League, NCL competition. I lead our team of seven cybersecurity analysts to place in the top 100 out of over four thousand other teams of the best ethical hackers in the nation. The competition was very complex and covered OSINST, Cryptography, Log Analysis, Network Traffic Analysis with Wireshark, Decryption of Hashes, Digital Forensics, Scanning and Reconnaissance, Web Application Exploitation, and Enumeration and Exploitation. We scored a 90% first right answer in every category in the completion.

• During my time with the US Army, I have provided guidance to sixty team members consisting of network engineers, system administrators, cyber security engineers, desktop support technicians, and department managers.

• Provided clarity around ever-changing priorities and goals for all departments for the entire functional area.

• In order to improve the business processes for each department through analysis and collaboration I use Lean Six Sigma.

• Deeply involved in long-term business planning at the managerial and executive level.
