Hello,
My name is Lorraine, I have been a licensed hair stylist for 41 years. I leased the same station in Seattle for over 24 years. My clientele started with college students, by the time I left Seattle I had four generations of at least one family and three generations of many others.
Running a business and staying current for that long run was no accident. I provided a clean, safe, warm, sanitized environment where I and my co-leasers and clients felt welcome and comfortable. I consider myself a color specialist. Inventory, advertising, towels, sanitation, scheduling, telephones were all a part of a wonderful business I was a part of for so many years. After moving to Los Angeles I worked commission at Hair by Patrice for 3 years, after which I had a beautiful salon in my home until I retired. I have been a volunteer with the American Red Cross for over 4 years. I started in Blood Services as a Donor Ambassador, but quickly moved into Disaster Cycle Services. Currently, I am the Volunteer Partner to our Disaster Program Specialist. I have trained for, earned and acted in many positions. Mass Care/ Sheltering, Feeding and the Disaster Action Team are my favorite positions outside of my Volunteer Partner duties. I’ve learned to navigate several computer applications and programs to facilitate working with the new volunteer recruits. These 4 years have been an active classroom in gratitude and service. I have several hobbies ranging from home remodel, landscape design, interior design, fire spinning to dance and costume design. I consider sewing to be a life skill.
I have completely remodeled 4 homes. I have significantly improved any space I’ve occupied. I have a deep understanding of most processes and systems that need maintaining, upgrading or outright replacing. I’ve had good and bad experiences and learned from them all.
I earned my flight instructor rating and taught at Northway Aviation for a short time. Those lessons will never leave me.
I have always enjoyed working with people and look forward to the opportunity to continue.
