Q. How do you envision the role of Supply Chain Management into the Future?

A. Each day technology becomes more embedded in everything we do. Tapping into these resources and knowledge base is the key and the art of Supply Chain Design and Management. The role becomes increasingly pervasive and true value-add to the bottom line of any corporation. Customers benefit as well with Lean transportation routes, tracking mechanisms, whether it is for manufacturing, consumer or industrial, effective Supply Chain Management is one of the keys to delighting customers and efficiency in execution. Shandley was appointed to Start-up the North American Entity for KomodoSource Corporation after serving on the Board for 4 years. He currently leads the R&D, Engineering, Order to Cash, System Development, and Supply Chain for this Premier Building Supply Company. The panel product is very unique to the building arena and is causing positive evolution and disruption to traditional building techniques. Mark leads operations, Sales, and Supply Chain with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, LA, Texas, Taiwan, and China. Formulation and IP for the Cellular Structure Panel product line is by Mark and his key Engineers. He has served on the Board for 5 years and involved in several countries with Humanitarian Housing Efforts. The panels are mainly used in Social Housing, but several US State Housing Authorities are beginning to recognize the method and systems in plans to build communities of affordable housing. Mark also is an advisor to the Board for several start-up LiDAR companies.

SVP Operations & CPO - Velodyne LiDAR November 2015 to June 2018

Leading the way in LiDAR sensors and autonomous suites and solutions, Mark led the operations team through 330% year-over-year growth. Led the team to ISO9001:2015 certification on the road to TS16949 for Automotive. Ran all aspects of Operations, Mega-Factory start-up, Robotics line design and implementation, and R&D projects to the LiDAR Sensor Product Roadmap. Developed and Implemented Indoor and Outdoor Test Ranges, and Customer Relationship building. Provided strong support for a C-Round funding raise of $150 million from Ford and Baidu. Key relationships were established with the 11 Major Automakers, The Top Driving on-demand companies, Top AI developers, and Tier 1 automotive suppliers. He was directed to develop a competitive product in the Autonomous Drone space that was outside of R&D scope of design at Velodyne but of great adjacent market interest.

Product lines H/W and S/W that enables legally blind persons to interact with the Internet and smart devices. Global responsibility including EU and German GMbH distribution point and Service Repair. Flextronics International – Executive Career in Operations and Supply Chain March 2000 through March 2013

Carrying various Executive Titles, assignments, deployments, and Expatriate work, Mark was immersed in copious types of Consumer Electronics Manufacturing. Most noted was the movement of the Supply Chain from Malaysia to Southern China (ZhuHai) starting up 1 million square feet of Manufacturing and Logistics Space for the leading Inkjet Manufacturer in the world. His team moved the entire supply chain and manufacturing from Malaysia to China.

In 2011, Mark was stationed in Shah Alam, KL Malaysia to support bringing up a Class 100 manufacturing fitting it with a fully automated line to produce 300,000 camera modules per day. 5000 Employees were hired and the Capital Equipment and Bring-up were part of Mark’s responsibilities along with connecting the Supply Base and performing PPAP on each component.

Mark’s team was key in developing the ODM Camera Module and Sensor set for first and second-generation Microsoft Kinect, on time for launch. The second generation is a short-range LiDAR with ToF sensor, and this is where he gained his base knowledge in this space and used it later in his career for ADAS vehicle sensors.

Mark was recognized as Supply Chain Manager of the Year by Supply Chain Asia Magazine in 2011 for leading the teams through these efforts and recognized the Flex Supply Chain Management organization for the white papers that were published. Mark came to Flex from an acquisition of Chatham Technologies (a leading ODM and deployment company for cell phone infrastructure) and he developed teams and processes that became known as the Strategic Supply Chain Management organization.

Mark’s teams worked on Digital Cameras, Camera Modules for Smart Devices and Mobile phones, Major Copying Systems, and Printers by the leading OEMs in the world.

Mark’s team provided maximum profit and revenue to Flex’s bottom line in business while managing a $5+ Billion Supply Chain. Highlights include inventory turns of 12.3 on average and sub 700 DPPM in quality.

Mark is an avid Sensei and promotes the culture of Kaizen with over 500 Kaizen events at two of the sites his team managed.

Mark originally formed a Global Mechanical sourcing team, at that time, a predominantly Electronics Manufacturer before that time.

Titles ranged from starting as Material Manager for Mechanicals to Director and VP of Supply Chain to VP of Print Operations.

Shandley was the point lead for Supply Chain and Operations in the M&A of Xerox, Kodak, and Vista Point which Flex acquired the 3 company’s supply chain, operations, and R&D. The acquisition and consolidations of Xerox allowed the Client to achieve a 41% cost reduction.

Flextronics purchased this $2.5 Billion Company that was built through acquisition and became Flextronics Enclosures. Mark built and led the Global Supply Chain team with primary commodities used to build cell phone infrastructure.

Mark bootstrapped an Electronics Manufacturing Company in Colorado Springs and Fort Worth, TX servicing such great customers as Samsung, AST Computers, Web Gear, Johnson and Johnson, and many more emerging technologies. The company and its SMT line coupled with unique WiFi testing equipment was acquired by Web Gear Engineering in 1999.

Building a Career in Operations in Supply Chain, Before 1992.

Mark has the rich experience of working for Apple Computer from hourly into management in his 6-year career there. He also worked in Planning, Purchasing, and logistics and supported 3 international sites as well.

CONVEX Supercomputer, Packaging Corporation of America, and AMPEX Video Systems where all Planning and purchasing roles move into mid-management.
