Murray State University
June 1981 to June 1985, Murray, Kentucky
At age 14, I moved to Murray State University and began taking a range of classes which included computer programming. PCs were still emerging and I had the idea that computers would be less intimidating to non-techies if they could speak with the machine. This lead me to create SIDNEY ( Simulated Intelligent Dialogue Network Interface) . I found program writing too boring. And focused on other pursuits but earned academic awards in composition, art, and public speaking. As I was still attending high school classes on the side while attending MSU. Upon graduation from HS, I took a scholarship to another University. Union University / Bachelor of Arts
July 1985 to June 1988 - Jackson, Tennessee
Upon receiving a scholarship in speech & debate - I enrolled at this private Baptist University in TN. and went on to be elected as Vice President of Student Council. During this era, there was an endeavor where two law students from Oxford University traveled from England to America to challenge students throughout country to public debate events. I was selected to represent Tennessee, ( and they beat me like a dirty rug) However I later devised a model involving new methodology for media coverage of terrorist events. My speeches and advocacy for this led to a state award. In other activities<I helped Charter a new University chapter of the Kiwanis Club a major, feat for a Catholic Men’s Organization to operate at a Baptist University.
