Greg Schmalz' career began at the age of **, as a sportswriter for several Northern New Jersey newspapers. At 19, Greg covered the New York Jets football beat for the Herald-News in Passaic, N.J. During his seven seasons traveling with the Jets, Greg made the transition to broadcasting and worked alongside play-by-play announcer Marty Glickman.
Greg later worked at ABC Radio Network Sports where, as the Senior Producer, he produced Howard Cosell's daily network program; served as ABC Radio's street reporter in the metropolitan New York area; and coordinated production for the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia and Los Angeles and the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada and Seoul, South Korea. He also provided television voice-over talent while at ABC and continues to do commercial voice-overs on cable TV.
