EXPERIENCE
District Equity Team 2022-present
My team provides building level training for staff while working to diversify our curriculum, classrooms, and school culture.
Dual Language Teacher 2019-2022
I provided instruction to 3rd and 4th grade students in a 90/10 dual language model where our goal was to develop students who are: bilingual, biliterate, bicultural and critically conscious. Bethel Strategic Plan Committee 2018-2019
I worked with district leadership, parents, and teacher representatives to set goals for moving the Bethel School district forward in social emotional learning and equity especially as it relates to academic opportunities Teacher on Special Assignment 2016-2019
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Special services, I supported the district-wide K-12 English Language Learner (EL) Program by: implementing a new-comer program for 6-12 grade students, training and supervising EL paraeducators and teachers, and supporting classroom teachers through observations, model lessons, co-teaching, and workshops tailored towards research based practices for increasing language, engagement, and rigor in general education classroom. Apple Innovative Fellowship Team 2015-2016
I was given the privilege of learning from distinguished Apple educators in order to support teachers at my school in integrating our new iPads into their teaching. I was exposed to replacement applications (Show Me, Pages, EPIC) as well as revolutionary applications (Notability, iMovie, Garage Band, Nearpod, Canva, Kahoot, The Google Suite).
Spanaway Middle School Teacher September 2013 to June 2014 I facilitated learning opportunities for students in 7th grade science, 7th grade math, and advanced math. Bethel School District Elementary Classroom Teacher September 2004 to June 2013 and 2014 to 2016 I worked in a number of Bethel Schools developing strong relationships with students from multiple grades and ability levels and supporting their growth socially, emotionally, and academically. Girl Scouts of Western Washington Service Unit 647 Service Unit Manager 2015-2020 I facilitated meetings with all the troop leaders from my local area and served as the communication liaison between local leaders and Girl Scout Council. I was also responsible for organizing and hosting events
(encampments, Thank You Brunch, Leader Appreciation Night) and managing our business bank accounts. Site-based School Leadership Team 2010-2016
As the leader of our professional learning community, I facilitated our meeting and planning times to be data-driven and student focused.
Girl Scout Troop Leader 2012-present
My scouts who started as kindergarten and first graders are now in the 10th and 11th grade. I have had the privilege of guiding their journey through scouts: earning badges, budgeting, selling cookies and other handmade items, maintaining a bank account with thousands of dollars, planning trips and writing itineraries, creating and hosting workshops (Journeys, STEM, Cookie Kickoffs) and fun events (tea parties, paint nights). Evergreen Elementary Title 1 Team 2004-2007
With a team of incredible educators, hours of research, and observations at several successful schools with similar demographics, I helped develop a new Title 1 program model that was able to meet the needs of more students so we could begin closing the achievement gap. Bethel School District English Language Learner Teacher Specialist 2001 to 2004 I provided English Language Learners and their teachers the support necessary to consistently develop their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Traweek Middle School Teacher-- 1998-2001
I worked to make reading and history come to life for my middle school students and was also the staff advisor for the school newspaper, The Traweek Times.
