Dear Vice President Search Committee,
I am thrilled to be submitting my resume, and cover letter, with hopes of being a candidate for consideration for the Vice President of Programs position with Up2Us. Over the past 31 years, I have gained vast experience in independent school education as a teacher, coach, athletic administrator, and chief operations officer. As the Head Coach and Program Director, McDonogh Wrestling has grown to be nationally recognized perennially. The success of our student-athletes on and off the mats has been tremendous and consistent. Managing the K-12 program's curriculum, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, marketing, and fundraising efforts, parallels the work involved with leading a small company. As the former COO at McDonogh, I have gained a comprehensive view of all the nuances of running a large independent school as I was charged to oversee and receive direct reports from maintenance, grounds, housekeeping, security, transportation and dining services. Along with these direct reports, I was responsible for managing all maintenance, renovation, and new construction projects on McDonogh School's 800+ acre campus, which houses 44 academic and residential buildings. I have also been deeply involved with crisis and risk management, and served on the school’s campus master plan and pandemic committees. At the board level, I sat as a school administrator on the executive and finance committees, and managed the buildings and grounds committee.
In 2022, I switched my entire attention back to students as I returned to a full time teaching and coaching position. My focus continues to be connecting with students while rebuilding a nationally ranked wrestling program that provides opportunities for growth and excellence for all involved. I love my current work, but I see your position as a very unique opportunity to serve a greater calling. I believe my time in the many educational roles throughout the past 31 years, along with my passion for building authentic relationships with coaches, student-athletes, parents, and supporters, has positioned me to be considered to lead and champion the mission of Up2Us.
