JOB DESCRIPTION : Deliveries to various client in surrounding and outlying arears, long distance trips. Driving of different types of vehicles manual and automatic. Loading and offloading of all chemicals/dangerous goods manually and with hyster and following all rules and regulations. Following the correct PPE, assisting with stock take and control in the warehouse, picking and unpacking goods. Sanitizing of goods. All road safety rules always followed. Dispatching of goods from the branch. Ensuring that the truck is adequately maintained daily. Use the daily checklist to check the truck before leaving the premises. Dangerous goods documentation must be on board before leaving the yard. The relevant signage must be on the vehicle. Assist with loading and offloading of stock Loads or offloads the truck, either by hand or by using lifting equipment (forklift). Make sure the load weight is evenly distributed, complies with load limits, and is adequately secured. Any breakages, damage or leaks are reported to the distribution manager before leaving the yard. Maintain route sheet documentation Reading and understanding route sheets. Signing of the route sheet before leaving the yard as acceptance of the load. Maintaining all route sheets. Taking note of any special instructions and carry them out. Customer documentation Any problems with deliveries is discussed with the manager, and late deliveries are timeously reported Assisting with stock taking as and when required. Maintaining health and safety practices. Applying health and safety operating procedures during loading and offloading. Applying appropriate awareness and practices with hazardous goods transportation. Assisting when distribution controller is away, in planning daily routes, allocating vehicles, drivers and assistants for daily delivery, compiling trip sheets, vehicle declaration forms and ensuring these are completed by drivers and handed in daily, prioritize stock as per delivery importance, supervising in loading of trucks and ensuring correct goods are dispatched.
