Summary:
I have been an educator since September 1997. I taught many grade levels from Pre-K through 6th grade. I have also taught Spanish and Literacy in Middle School for grade 6,7, and 8.
I have made a difference in many of my Student’s lives by making them feel important, confident and successful at whatever level they were able to achieve within my classroom. I conducted remedial Literacy and Math instruction for all my struggling learners.
I was a private tutor providing individual tutoring in literacy and mathematics to academically at-risk elementary school students.
I stopped working in October of 2015 due to a work injury and have been out of work since then due to shoulder surgery and complications thereafter. I have work restrictions.
Prior to me becoming a teacher I was a Teacher’s Aide for 12 years. Most of my work background is in the Education field.
I have also worked quite a few years in two Department Stores which gave me experience in sales and customer service.

Developed and implemented standards based instruction for classes of 25-30 culturally and academically diverse students including ESL learners and children with special needs.
Differentiated curriculum and created interactive learning opportunities using a Smart Board and a wide range of hands-on materials.
Conducted language arts instruction using a balanced literacy curriculum. I facilitated whole class lessons, guided reading groups and Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop activities.
Mathematics was taught supplementing the text with manipulatives, mathematics games and word problems.
Created and implemented interdisciplinary science and social studies units that incorporated reading, writing, mathematics and technology skills with content area material.
Enriched the social studies curriculum with daylong language immersion classes that introduced students to the culture and language of Italy and Spain.
Students were assessed through running records, portfolios, formal and informal assessments and computer based literacy and mathematics assessment programs.
Participated in Parent/ Teacher conferences and Staff Development.
Taught Spanish on the middle school level. I collaborated with the core subject area faculty members to create thematic curriculum for first and second level foreign language classes. I created a culturally rich program that included music, art and creative writing.
Taught language arts to five sections of sixth grade students including an honors class for accelerated learners. Developed literature- based instruction that integrated whole class lessons with independent and cooperative group projects.
Taught in the after school program providing small group remedial language arts and mathematics instruction to at-risk third grade students with a focus on preparation for the NYS ELA and Mathematics Examinations.
