Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

SUMMARY

Significant instrumentation and controls experience in the oil and gas industry. Project leadership, project development, engineering, installation, field startup and operations. Coordinate project proposals, technical meetings, direct preparation of budget briefs, management of project contractors, project scope and workflow, project design standards and analyses of project specifications, milestone dates and project completion dates, project controls including drawings, specifications, logs, financial reports, and correspondence dates, approving contractor payments etc.

Projects:

Experience includes offshore platforms (Caspian see platforms ) and LNG Facilities (Adriatic LNG, Clean Energy, Free Port LNG), Gas Treatment Plant (Pokrovka, etc.),Upstream and Mid-Stream Facilities (Conoco-Phillips, Murphy etc.) petrochemical facilities (Dow Chemicals- disassembling existing Dowtran programs ), refineries (Euroenergy, GTL – gas to liquid, etc.), different pipelines (CPC 1000 miles of pipelines and 15 Pump Stations, Compressor stations, etc.), Oil Rig Automation, Oil and Gas Storage Facilities, loading terminals ( Vopak) etc.

Instrumentation:

Valve calculations, Alarm management, P&ID, C&E, Index, I/O List, Location plans, Datasheets, Loop diagrams, Complex Loops design and description, Instrument hookups, Control Narratives, Project specifications, Control philosophy, start-up services, troubleshooting, and training for commissioned systems.

Electrical:

Cable schedules, Motor control diagrams and startup procedures, including cryogenic pumps, one-line diagrams, voltage drop calculations, lighting calculations, VFD drives, junction box/Cabinets layout and wiring. Smart relays. MCC elevation, etc

Controls:

Distributed control systems (DCS DeltaV, Honeywell), Safety systems (SIS), programmable controllers (Allen Bradley, Schneider, Wago) Human machine interfaces (HMI), Bentley Nevada, Hart, Device Net, Fieldbus, Modbus TCP/RTU, Profibus (ProfiNet), Control System Architecture and routing, Remote I/O’s, System Integration, Memory Maps, Interlocks. Control system and HMI (SCADA) configuration. Review existing/new PLC/DCS program codes. DCS/PLC sequences. Yokogawa DCS and SIS controls and programming, Honeywell TDC migration to Experion, etc.

Strong knowledge/ background in applicable codes and industry specifications IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 61131, NFPA-72, NEC, NFPA-704, etc. InstruCalc, Smart Plant Instrumentation (InTools), Different PLC/DCS configuration software (IEC 61131 standards: Lader logic, Functional blocks, etc.), Visual basic, C, Micro C, BasCom etc., Databases (SQL, Access), AllenBradley, RSLogix 500,5000, Studio5000, Factory Talk, UnityPro, and Vijeo Designer, CHARMs. Historian, OPC, Siemens S7, etc., SIL calculations, Probability of fail.

-Sr. Engineer 3. Universal Pegasus. Different Pipeline projects, Pump stations and Compressor stations. 2011-2015.

Responsible for specifications; layout design; requisitions; pressure, temperature, flow, level, and vibration instrumentation; system architecture; control philosophy; P&ID development; loop diagrams and electric/motor circuits; and HMI, PLC, DCS, and SIS Systems. Wiring etc.

- Subcontract Lead. EN Global. (Caspian Pipeline Consortium- CHEVRON). 2008-2011

Project included oil Pump stations automation, review of P&IDs, and subcontract management. Responsible for managing the F&G portion of the project (two design/manufacture companies); controlling the philosophy (tank farms and process area) and basics of F&G design; development of locations plans, functional specification, material requisitions, and datasheets; equipment certification; and integration with existing F&G control system etc.

Master’s Degree, 1978 (Major – Petroleum engineering, Minor-Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering). Oil and Chemistry University. Baku. Azerbaijan. Evaluated in WA in 2001.
