WORK EXPERIENCE:
2012- 2013 August I ran a business column in The People Daily, a national
daily in Kenya
2012- I work with Kenya Institute of Management, Nyahururu Branch as a
lecturer in Strategic Management and other Business Administration courses.
November, 2009 to date: Media; I have been a business writer with The
Standard Newspaper in the 'Shillings & Sense'& Business Unusual sections. I
also write Human Interest Features in The County Weekly, a newspaper for
The Standard Group. I have learnt the skills of editing, writing, and
sourcing for suitable newspaper features story on Business and Human
interest issues.
Present Employer & job (Sept, 2006 to date)-TSC, Teaching at Gatero Girls'
Secondary School; Box 848-20300, Nyahururu
Duties-Teaching English Literature, Classroom Management and overseeing
Library Operations. I am also the Volley ball coach and Journalism Club
patron.
(1)January, 2006-Agust, 2006: Teaching Literature and English Language at A
Level
Place: Loyola Jesuits High School (a Catholic Affiliated School), Dar
es Salaam, Tanzania.
(2)August,2004-December,2005: Teacher of English at ST Mary's Teachers'
College,Dar Es Salaam,Tanzania.During the same period, I worked as a
columnist and freelance journalist with 'The Sunday Observer', the IPP
Media -owned weekly and the largest English Language Newspaper in Tanzania.
(3)August, 2002-June, 2003: I worked with Koinonia Nuba (NGO) as a teacher
of English at Yusuf Kuwa Teachers' Training Institute, Nuba Mountains,
Southern Sudan. The duties entailed teaching ex -SPLA soldiers English,
Basic Education Teaching skills and general community leadership skills.
(4)April-September, 1999: While being a university student, I worked as a
casual at Manson Hart, a pioneer tiles manufacturing company in Kenya at
the Ruaraka factory. Duties entailed verifying the counting tiles and
packaging. I gained the skills of working with people of different
backgrounds and social classes.
(5)December, 1997-I worked with Electoral Commission as a polling clerk.
The brief entailed facilitating the voters to cast their ballots, and
transporting safely the ballot boxes to the divisional headquarters. I
learnt the valuable skill of carrying out a national civic duty with
diligence.
